Chorus has partnered with Skill Hire to offer a Community Care Pre-traineeship Pathway, giving you an opportunity to fast track your career through hands-on workplace experience, fully funded* nationally recognised training course ‘Entry into Care Roles Skill Set’ and access to great employment opportunities.

About Community Care Pre-traineeship Pathway
CHCSS00114: Entry into Care Roles Skill Set
The Entry into Care Roles Skill Set is a program designed to build foundation skills and gain insight into the industry. Students will gain knowledge and exposure in areas such as how to support individuals and conduct tasks safely, whilst focusing on the importance of infection control.
The course is delivered in person by Skill Hire over four weeks, including hands on experience with Chorus and is 100% free for eligible students (see FAQ below for details)
Upon successful completion, you will have the opportunity to move directly to the interview stage for a suitable position with Chorus.

What we need from you
- You’re passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives and want a career you can be proud of.
- You must be able to travel between customers’ homes, by providing your own transport, with a current WA Drivers licence.
- Ability to get a current National Police Clearance.

Frequently asked questions
Job Ready Skill Sets are 100% free for eligible students if you are:
- aged 18—24 years at the time of enrolment (excluding school students)
- receiving the JobSeeker or JobKeeper payment
- receiving or you are a dependent of someone who is the Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY.
- holding or are the dependent of someone holding:
- a pensioner concession card or Health Care Card; or
- a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
- a dependent of someone who is an inmate of a custodial institution.

There are no pre-requisites for the qualification.
Students must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and have full work rights to enrol in the course.
Students must be at least 18 years of age at course commencement.
Chorus are working in partnership with Skill Hire for the Community Care Pre-traineeship Pathway initiative.
Skill Hire is a Registered Training Organisation (0361) registered and governed by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
It is Skill Hire’s responsibility to provide quality training and assessment in compliance with the standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) 2015, including the issuance of any AQF certification documentation following successful completion of any units of competency or qualification.

Support Worker – Domestic Support
You will work alongside customers with varying needs to provide tailored person-centred services which enable them to remain living in the comfort of their own home.
In this varied role, you may be responsible for activities that can include:
- Helping with domestic assistance/household tasks;
- Ensuring all allocated living areas are kept clean, tidy and safe;
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping areas covered in the domestic support plan;
- Assisting with laundry and ironing as required;
- Reading support plans to ensure that tasks completed will meet the customer’s needs;
- Record and document services provided as required.
After successful completion of the Community Care Pre-traineeship Pathway, students may wish to undertake a traineeship available through Skill Hire such as:
- CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support
- CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services (Ageing or Youth)
Support Worker – Multi-skilled (Aged Care or Disability)
You will work alongside customers with varying support needs to provide tailored person-centred services and activities of their choice which enable them to remain living in the comfort of their own home and community.
In this varied role, you may be responsible for activities that can include:
- Domestic assistance/household tasks;
- Personal care (showering, dressing);
- Social support;
- Community participation and inclusion;
- Daily living/life skills development;
- Meal preparation;
- Medication management;
- Hoisting/transfers;
- Transportation of customers to appointments and events.
A total of one week of work placement is to be completed with Chorus prior to successful completion of the skill set.
