NAIDOC Week 2021

We speak of Country as if it is a person. It is our identity. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples it has always been this way.

During NAIDOC Week we strive to heal Country and heal our nation.

Healing Country means empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to be involved in the management of Country with fairness and equity, so that the culture and values of Indigenous peoples are equal to those of all Australians.

We need to recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been dispossessed, and address the social and economic consequences of that dispossession.

During NAIDOC Week we call for ways to protect and maintain our culture and heritage for everyone. We have been waiting for generations.

Heal Country, heal our nation.
